image1.jpegimage1.jpeg
  • Ruler Work: Step into the exciting world of longarm ruler work! In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of using both straight and curved rulers to create precise, beautiful quilting designs. We’ll cover how to safely hold and position your rulers, how to stitch around them with accuracy, and how to build your confidence as you practice. With both straight and curved rulers available for hands-on samples, you’ll quickly see how ruler work can complement and elevate your free-motion quilting. By the end of class, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to begin incorporating ruler work into your own quilts with ease

  • Background Fillers: Ready to take your quilting to the next level? We will explore a variety of background fillers that will make your quilt tops come alive. From free-motion feathered flowers and swirls to stacked circles, pebbles, snails, and more, you’ll learn how to stitch these fun and fabulous textures with confidence. We’ll also discuss ghost blocks and how they can add depth and interest to your quilting. Whether you’re just getting started or looking for fresh inspiration, this class will help you build your background filler toolbox while keeping it stress-free and fun. Come stitch along and discover your new favorite designs!
Day 2 · 6/25  Ruffle Some Feathers · Extraordinary Feathers

image0.jpegimage0.jpeg
  • Ruffle Some Feathers: Feathers are a timeless quilting design that bring elegance and flow to any quilt—and they’re easier than you think! In this hands-on class, we’ll start with the basics of feathers and explore several styles including traditional feathers, bump-back feathers, and molar feathers. You’ll learn the stitch order that makes feathers flow smoothly, including how to navigate around curves, corners, and inside and outside turns. We’ll also look at how to wrap and extend feathers so they look extraordinary across borders, blocks, and open spaces. Whether you’re brand new to feathers or have tried them before without success, this class will give you the tools and confidence to make feathers a favorite in your quilting toolbox.

  • Extraordinary Feathers: Take your longarm feather quilting skills to the next level with this creative and technique-rich class focused on stitching extraordinary feather designs. Whether you are looking to refine your foundational feather work or add eye-catching embellishments and modern flair, this class is for you.

You will learn how to create a variety of stunning feathers styles, from traditional to contemporary, with an emphasis on balanced composition and graceful motion. We will explore symmetrical designs, playful embellishments and how to confidently wrap feathers around corners and borders for a cohesive, flowing look. This class is ideal for confident beginners and beyond. Quilters looking to expand their design library will leave with the confidence to make your ordinary feathers into something truly extraordinary.

Day 3 · 6/26  Borders & Sashings · Continuous Curve

  • Borders & Sashings: Borders and sashings deserve just as much attention as the quilt blocks they frame! In this hands-on class, we’ll explore creative, effective ways to design and stitch borders and sashings that add polish and personality to any quilt. Students will learn how to plan, draw, and mark borders without the headache of complicated math—my favorite “no-math method” makes it easy every time.

We’ll cover stitch order for efficiency and accuracy, practice both curves and straight-edge designs, and explore techniques to enhance even the simplest border layouts. Sashing design options will include timeless favorites such as wishbones and ribbon candy, as well as my signature “over-under” designs that bring an eye-catching woven effect. By the end of class, students will have the tools, confidence, and inspiration to turn plain borders and sashings into design features that elevate the entire quilt.

  • Continuous Curve:  Ready to streamline your quilting and add polish to your designs? In this hands-on class, we’ll explore how to stitch continuous thread paths across a variety of grid layouts, including traditionally marked grids, grids on point, and diamond shapes. You’ll learn how to begin and end at the same point, making your quilting more efficient while reducing starts, stops, and thread tie-offs. Along the way, we’ll experiment with embellishments and creative flourishes to elevate simple gridwork into something extraordinary. By the end of class, you’ll have the confidence and skill to quilt smooth, flowing paths that save time and add beauty to your quilts.
Day 4 · 6/27  Combining Design · Applique Framework

  • Combining Design: Ready to take your quilting to the next level? In this class, we’ll dive deep into the art of combining quilting designs to make your quilt tops truly shine. You’ll learn how to merge feathers, swirls, circles, and both straight and curved lines into dynamic compositions that elevate your quilting from simple to spectacular.

We’ll begin with the basics of drawing shapes, grids, and feather spines, then explore stitching order, echoing, and ways to flow smoothly from one design to the next. Along the way, you’ll see how layering and blending motifs can create movement, depth, and custom detail that transforms your quilt top into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.By the end of class, you’ll have the confidence and tools to combine designs creatively and effectively—turning your quilting features into true show-stoppers.

  • Applique Framework:  Do you have an appliqué quilt top waiting to be quilted? Let’s explore how to make those beautiful shapes stand out with thoughtful quilting! We will look at stitch order, intricate quilting designs, and echoing techniques that transform appliqué into a true showpiece. Learn how to highlight each appliqué shape and create quilting that enhances rather than competes with the design. Multiple samples will be shared so you can see firsthand how different quilting approaches impact appliqué quilts. You’ll leave with a wealth of ideas and the confidence to make your appliqué tops shine. Students should be familiar with both free-motion quilting and ruler work.
