Instructor Bio:
First and foremost, I am a teacher. I have taught a variety of subjects over the course of my life to many people of many ages. I have been a quilter for more than twenty years, making dozens and dozens of quilts ranging from traditional to modern, using every technique imaginable and using a huge variety of fabrics. I have been longarm quilting for myself and clients for about ten of those years. I began to design, produce, and sell my own line of machine quilting rulers and accessories soon after starting my longarm quilting business and online shop, michaelquilts.com.

I was originally inspired to make Judy Niemeyer Quiltworx quilts due to my clients sending them to me for custom quilting. That inspiration turned into somewhat of an obsession. After making several of Judy?s quilts over the years, I decided to treat myself to a Quiltworx retreat in Montana. Once I immersed myself into foundation paper piecing with Judy for a week at that retreat, I knew I wanted to teach the Quiltworx techniques and incorporate Judy Niemeyer Quiltworx patterns and products into my business. That is when I began my journey to becoming a Quiltworx Certified Instructor. I teach Judy Niemeyer Quiltworx projects to students locally in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and will entertain the idea of teaching nationally on occasion.

I continue to custom quilt for some clients, although time is not allowing me to do this as often as I used to. I still teach longarm quilting with rulers online and in shops. Most recently, I have designed a special selection of machine quilting rulers that are specific to custom quilting Quiltworx quilts. They are being released and marketed as my Quiltworx Companion Collection.
